like William he was living in Church Street in 1841 -1851, in 1841 he was a Joiner to trade, but appears as a Ship owner in 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881.

In 1861 - 1871 he had moved the family house to Esk Terrace, Whitby with his family. In 1881 he had moved to Ugglebarnby, 7 Sleights Hill, He had been thought by the Nelson Family to have vanished approx 1870 's with the ships money.In 1881he was still a ship owner, and he died in 1890.Whitby area

Have since found out that it was the "Lyra" that Joseph and William owned ( documented on "the Ancient port of Whitby " )in 1865, William continued to sail in Joseph's ships after 1865, so I don't think there is much credence in this tale.

GEORGE made a will on 9 September 1749 in AISLABY, NORTH YORKSHIRE. In the name of god, amen, I George Nelson of Ayslaby in the Parish of Whitby in the county of York yeoman and being of good and infirm in body ,of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding thanks been given into almighty god for the same.
